Employee Absence Investigation

If you suspect that an employee is embarking on a suspected fraudulent long-term absence, it can have a detrimental effect on your organisation's productivity and financial wellbeing.

Long-term absence can be triggered by any number of issues (see below) and most of the time the absence is genuine, and the employee needs time to recover.

If you feel that your sickness and absence policy is being abused, you have the right to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into suspected dishonesty. After all, it could cost your organisation thousands of pounds in a fraudulent insurance claim, not to mention the additional costs incurred directly from their absence and any subsequent replacement.

It's important to note: before instructing a professional investigator to conduct a covert investigation into the activities, movements, whereabouts and behaviours of an employee who is suspected to be committing fraudulent long-term absence, other considerations - such as ensuring you have exhausted your own sickness and absence policy - should be examined first.

A professional investigation should be initiated ONLY where you have suspicions about the authenticity of the absence and when failure to do so could be financially and reputationally damaging for your organisation.
